|Well, I'm posting this news here to let people know that no, I did not abandon the wiki, though at some point I did start getting annoyed with the sheer volume of email that I receive. So I started ignoring email that told me every time a page got edited. Bad form, because obviously this project would have been done a couple years ago had I not started turning a blind eye to it. Sorry.
Really not much of a news post.

|Actually being active for roughly about a month now (or so I'm told), the Prismatia realm is open for business. The realm is located in Europe I would guess a wager at most likely in France, as it is a French server. The population is small, but growing, and there is no lack of enthusiasm from both staff and player alike.
To begin with the realm had a faction guild on either side, but have since broken off into other guilds (mostly the idea of the creator of the server, as the English speaking players felt they did not have a voice or place). As of the time of this writing I'm running my own guild on the server, its name is Untouchable. Any English speaking players might want to drop me a line.
To check out Prismatia, just go to http://www.prismatia.net/ and enjoy.

|So today ends day 1 of the Vanilla WoWWiki. There's still plenty to do, and no end in sight. One thing of note is that there's a lot of non-Vanilla content on the Wiki at this moment in time; this will change over time and non-Vanilla content will get deleted but until then, just bear with it. During the day today I may do some additional edits, such as editing the bonuses on set items.
Garrosh Hellscream was already deleted earlier; most satisfying of deletions, I must say. Over time there will be more edits and content posts, of course. This is the first step on a much longer journey, and as all first steps, it had to start relatively small. I've imported the link system for WoWPedia, and I'd like to thank them for providing it. Using this makes for a far less clunky way to browse various pages.
Over time there will possibly be enhancements specific to VWW; because we're not a generic site, we can focus on Vanilla specific content and thus provide enhancements in relation. I'll post up combat formulas soon, it's a page I'm going to have to write from scratch as it's not exactly provided in any one material reference on any WoW site. The data does exist, and I've calculated the formulas myself in the past.
So yeah, day 1 is over unofficially (there's always more to be done) on my end, but hopefully we'll get other editors soon who might contribute and pitch in to make things go faster. No images, honestly I'm absolutely terrible at figuring out what to post as images, and the best I could figure was this photo of the day 1 snapshot.

|Recently had an unregistered user come onto the wiki and vandalize the front page and a server page; quickly rolled back their edits (do they not realize how MediaWiki software works?) and banned for a full year. This wiki's purpose needs no justification, but all the same, the purpose of this wiki is to provide a chronicle of content pertaining to version Patch 1.1.0 up to Patch 1.12.1/Patch 1.12.2.
Because the game was so heavily changed by The Burning Crusade, and so much was removed by Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria, this is meant both as an information source for those who wish to know about Classic WoW, as well as an archive.
Further this wiki does not seek to compete with (how can a wiki do that?) or displace retail World of Warcraft. If you are a player who plays retail World of Warcraft, and this wiki's content bothers you, do what you should do with any content on the internet that you don't like: ignore it. In this day and age, there seems to be a lot of misplaced intentions and bullheadedness, where someone feels the need to slam something, and then point it out by linking it to his 500 friends, and they link it to their 500 friends, and so on and so forth.
The problem is, like in all situations, this merely brings light to the thing they were slamming, and it gains popularity, which explains a majority of the internet sensations that everyone hates, but yet everyone links to everyone else and then it gets millions of views (and then millions of followers).
So sorry if you're offended in some way by this wiki's content, but all that is being done here is providing an archive and information source for a now-dead version of the game. No one thinks that somehow this wiki will make Blizzard lose subscribers, so please keep your inappropriate edits to yourself. If need be, admin protection can be placed on every page.
There are over 6,000 pages on this wiki, and many of them are going to be deleted anyway. But a vast project is hard to manage by one person.

|So while the old WoWWiki/WoWPedia interface was nice and all, it was decidedly clunky and a bit dull. In order to promote better navigability steps have been taken to promote more friendly interfaces. Rather than have class guides on a bunch of pages that you have to go looking for, the League of Legends Wiki provided an example interface on how to go about it. In order to help new players identify which classes they want to play, I also used their gradient bars system to help lay out information about the classes.
Thanks League of Legends Wiki, even if none of them read this I'd still rather thank them than not, and give credit where it's due. Likewise I'd like to extend a thanks to WoWPedia/WoWWiki for providing information (and many of the base pages of this Wiki, as well as most images).
Admittedly this wiki has been more of a side project than anything, but I still enjoy working on it when I do. Unfortunately I can't always dedicate days at a time like this, so I'll keep working on it at my own pace. And if no one's reading, that's fine too.
|read more... October 13, 2012 Vanilla WoWWiki Launches by Emhilradim|
|Starting forward from today is the advent of Vanilla WoWWiki, which is a Wiki based entirely off of World of Warcraft alpha through World of Warcraft 1.12.2. Why? Because despite the best intentions, WoWWiki and WoWPedia both fail to represent the actual data of the vanilla expansion due to the differences of versions between 1.0 through 5.0, and old data has since been lost due to updates.
So to provide an archive of relevant Vanilla World of Warcraft data, this Wiki is now active. Due to the focus of trying to provide the most relevant and true-to-source, any materials or links which may link to later content/patches should be treated with a grain of salt, as we are borrowing (stealing?) some content directly from WoWWiki and WoWPedia.
