Summary
First Aid allows you to create various bandages that can be used to heal yourself and other players. It consists of two parts - making bandages, and applying them. Bandages are created from cloth (Linen, Wool, Silk etc). The higher the quality of the material used, the more effective the bandage. However, a certain minimum skill level is required to both make and use the higher-level bandages. In addition to bandages, First Aid practicioners can also make anti-venom potions, but these are not as powerful as the anti-venom made by Alchemists.
Bandages are primarily used by classes that do not possess the ability to heal themselves, such as Rogues or Warriors. Soloing downtime can be greatly reduced by the use of bandages by these classes. Bandages can also be used in group or raid situations to reduce the load on main healers by allowing players to heal themselves and each other quickly.
Bandaging can be applied both in and out of combat, but if either player is hit then the process is interrupted and cancelled. A bandage can only be applied on a player once every 60 seconds due to a debuff. In combat, bandaging can also be useful after disabling your opponent using Entangling Roots or Rogue stun effects.

Suggested Classes
First Aid is almost essential for any Non-healer class to learn as a secondary profession. Healer classes may choose to learn First Aid to reduce downtime for health regeneration without using up mana.
All Classes involved in upper-level raiding, starting as low as UBRS, should have maxed out their first aid. First aid helps greatly in fights such as Kurinaxx, Moam, Shazzrah, Ragnaros, Razorgore, and many more.

To begin your first aid career, seek out the First Aid trainer in the starting zone for your race. There are no prerequisites for learning First Aid other than the 10 silver you'll be charged. Once you've acquired the First Aid skill, you can begin making Linen Bandages immediately and your potential skill level will be 75. Thereafter, consult the following table as you progress in First Aid skill.

- Trainers are located in each city and in several other population centers. Consult the list of trainers later in this article or ask a guard for directions. If the trainer you find can no longer teach you, they will direct you to the next appropriate trainer.
- Books "Expert First Aid - Under Wraps", "Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage" and "Manual: Mageweave Bandage" are sold by vendors in Brackenwall Village (tloc 36, 30) in Dustwallow Marsh (for Horde players) or in Stromgarde Keep (tloc 26, 58) in Arathi Highlands (for Alliance players). These books often show up in the Auction House, too, if you want to save a trip. Beware price gouging.
- The Trauma Surgeon is located in Theramore Isle (for Alliance players, loc is 68,49 - inside Foothold Citadel) or Hammerfall (for Horde players).

To reach Artisan skill in First Aid (above level 225), you will need to complete a quest:
- Alliance players will need to complete the Triage quest in Theramore, Dustwallow Marsh.
- Horde players will need to complete the Horde Trauma quest in Hammerfall, Arathi Highlands.
To qualify for the Artisan First Aid quest, you must be level 35 and have First Aid at 225 (earlier versions of WoW required you to be level 40 and also know how to make Mageweave Bandages). The three highest-level bandages are taught by the artisan quest-giver without charge as your skill increases.
